Running JInitiator on Vista Desktops from Oracle E-Business Suite Technology by Steven Chan

It’s not possible to run Oracle JInitiator 1.3 on Microsoft Vista.  Here’s why:

  • Oracle JInitiator 1.3 is based on Sun’s JDK 1.3
  • Sun’s JDK 1.3 is incompatible with Vista.
  • Sun has desupported JDK 1.3, so they have no plans to make it Vista compatible
  • Therefore, JInitiator is fundamentally incompatible with Vista due to its JDK 1.3 dependencies

Project Management

Projects Are about What? from Reforming Project Management by Hal

One of my project blogging friends, Bas de Baar, has begun a compilation of his posts that he’s calling the Project Shrink Linear Edition version 0.1. It’s an unbook. I don’t know if Bas is calling it that, but he’s creating it in that way. I’m a big fan of his thinking and his writing. Bas hits the nail on the head when he says, "Projects are about humans."

Windows 7 DirectAccess – the next killer enterprise feature from TechNet Edge by KingCobra

Remember when you jumped from dial-up to DSL or a cable modem?  You know what I mean.  Those technology jumps that just make you smile really wide?  Well, I have news for you.  There’s another one coming that is going to rock your world.  It’s called DirectAccess and although I am not particularly fond of the name, the name is accurate.

Steve Mullen has been involved in information technology for over 35 years. He is also actively involved in the music program (voice and English hand bells) and Vestry of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Damascus, MD.
